The CoE, in partnership with the Magee-Womens Research Institute, strives to enhance communication and encourage collaboration across disciplines and institutions, promote interdisciplinary research projects and encourage exploration of additional areas of synergy within the academic community.
This effort spans basic and clinical research and includes investigation into the health services to ensure optimal healthcare delivery to all women. Research strategies involve:
Ongoing development and publication of a womens health research agenda.
Identification and development of new funding opportunities in womens health research.
Increased representation of the womens health research agenda in institutional infrastructure and educational programs.
Promotion of initiatives to reduce barriers to womens participation in clinical research, with special attention to subgroups of women who are underrepresented in research.
Establishment of quality standards for womens health services and research.
Magee-Womens Research Institute
As one of the largest recipients of research funding from the National Institutes of Health, Magee's role is pivotal in recruiting more women into clinical trials as well as in understanding both the outcomes and the treatments that are most applicable to women.
